Over 23 million students begin new school year

Morethan 23 million students across the country, or one-fourth of the totalpopulation, started a new academic year on September 5.

Before the date, manyschools in the northern and central regions have suffered from serious floods,but authorities have worked hard for students to start the new school year asscheduled.

In the 2018-2019 academicyear, the education sector will continue applying measures to strengthen Statemanagement and improve the quality of education, while building a safe, healthyand friendly education environment.

The sector will focus ondeveloping pre-schools at industrial parks and export-processing zones, whilefinalizing preparations for the launching of new education programme andtextbook, especially for first-grade students. It will take steps to continueenhancing the quality of the national high-school examination, while reformingthe management mechanisms at high schools.

At the same time, tertiaryeducation will concentrate on standardizing the quality of students to meet therequirement of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The efficiency ofcommunity-based education facilities as well as vocational training centreswill also be improved.

The sector will also work tocomplete targets set in a project to build a learning society.
