Party chief welcomes overseas Vietnamese home for Tet

PartyGeneral Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on February 7 held a reception for adelegation of overseas Vietnamese (OV) who returned home to join the “Xuan Quehuong 2018” (Homeland Spring 2018) programme.

The delegation included 90delegates from 25 countries and territories worldwide, representing 4.5 millionoverseas Vietnamese living in 109 foreign nations and territories.

At the meeting, GeneralSecretary Trong extended his warm Tet (Lunar New Year) greetings to OVs andapplauded their contributions to building and developing the country as well asstrengthening solidarity among Vietnamese expats and promoting theirintegration into host nations.

The Vietnamese Party andGovernment consistently consider the overseas Vietnamese community as anintegral part of the nation, he affirmed, informing them about significantevents in the country in 2017 with the delegates.

He added that the Party andGovernment will continue supporting and creating favourable conditions for OVsto integrate into host countries and make further contributions to the nationaldevelopment.

The OV community expressedtheir delight at the country’s achievements in various fields and pledged tomake concerted efforts to strengthen solidarity and promoting traditionalcultural identity, towards the homelands.
