Japan aids power development in Phu Yen province

Thesouth-central coastal province of Phu Yen is implementing an electricity gridproject worth nearly 237 billion VND (10.4 million USD) sourced from Japanesenon-refundable official development assistance (ODA).

The project will be carriedout across 65 communes, wards and towns with a view to upgrading the powerdistribution network to meet the increasing demand in the province, which isestimated to grow at 8-10 percent per year.

The project aims to buildand upgrade nearly 207km of medium-voltage lines, 195km of low-voltage lines,and 40 transformer stations with a total capacity of 10,063 KVA. 

The project invested by theElectricity of Vietnam’s Central Power Corporation will be completed at the endof 2018.

Standing Vice Chairman ofthe provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Chi Hien said the project is expectedto meet the local surging demand for electricity and contribute to thefulfillment of the power access criteria under the national programme onbuilding new rural areas.

He asked relevant agenciesto assist the investor with land clearance, compensation and other issuesaccording to regulations as well as promote the project to help peopleunderstand its goal to ensure the progress.
