Vietnam, China hold theoretical workshop on reform experience

The14th theoretical workshop on Vietnam’s renewal realities andexperience and China’s open-door policy reform took place in Ho Chi Minh Cityon July 6.

Speaking at the event, headof the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for Informationand Education Vo Van Thuong presented a general overview of Vietnam’s 30 yearsof renewal, from important orientations to guidelines and policies, to greatachievements and overall experience. 

In order to achieve the goal of “wealthy people, strong country, democracy,fairness, and civilisation”, the Communist Party of Vietnam has approachedreform in a comprehensive and synchronous manner, placing economic reform anddevelopment as a central task, party-building as crucial, building culture as aspiritual foundation, strengthening national defence-security as a crucial andregular task, and socio-political stability as a prerequisite for reform anddevelopment. 

The head of the PublicityDepartment at the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, Huang Kunming,recalled the historic achievements of China’s 40-year reform, saying thatsocialism with Chinese characteristics has been the theme of reform theory andactualities in the country so far. 

He highlighted severallessons, both in theory and realities, on the process of open-door policyreform, especially rule-based perceptions regarding the building and refinementof socialis market economy institutions and fuelling prosperity in China. 

Both sides shared theirexperiences on the causes of socialism and party building, socio-economic andcultural development, external relations work, and global integration.
