Vietnam welcomes DPRK-US summit outcomes

Vietnamwelcomes and highly values outcomes of the summit between the DemocraticPeople’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the US which took place in Singapore onJune 12, said spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry of Vietnam Le Thi Thu Hang.

Hang made the statement inresponse to reporters’ query regarding the DPRK-US summit outcomes in Hanoi onJune 12.

The spokesperson emphasisedVietnam’s persistent stance on supporting denuclearisation, peace and stabilityon the Korean Peninsula, and settling all issues by peaceful measures and onthe basis of international law.

“We hope that theimplementation of agreements reached at the DPRK-US summit will bring aboutpositive results, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation anddevelopment in Northeast Asia and the world”, Hang said. 

The US-DPRK meeting occurredat 9am on June 12 (local time) at Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island. 

DPRK’s leader Kim Jong Un andUS President Donald Trump signed a document after their talks in which Kimreaffirmed his commitment to "work toward complete denuclearisation of theKorean Peninsula", without giving further details, according tointernational media.
