Turkish economic official welcomes NA Chairwoman to business forum

Presidentof the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK) Nail Olpak welcomedNational Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to the country to attend theTurkey-Vietnam Business and Investment Forum during a meeting in Istanbul onOctober 8.

Olpak said the forum, heldon the occasion of the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties,attracted nearly 160 Turkish firms, proving their interest in the Vietnamesemarket. 

He revealed that adelegation of Turkish enterprises will arrive in Vietnam to attend a week offashion and cuisine in late October. 

Introducing the DEIK’sfunction and mission, Olpak said the board was established in 1985 in order tomonitor the 144 Turkish business councils worldwide. In the Asia-Pacific alone,it has nine business councils in charge of coordinating Turkey’s globalbusiness operations and holding responsibility for foreign economic-tradedelegations working in the country.

NA Chairwoman Ngan expressedher delight at the development of trade and investment ties between the twocountries, especially since the signing of the trade, economic, and technicalcooperation agreement in 1997. 

She thanked Olpak and DEIKfor working closely with Vietnamese agencies to hold the forum, adding thatdirect flights between Vietnam and Turkey have facilitated bilateral trade,investment, and tourism. 

The top legislator said theforum affords Vietnamese and Turkish firms a chance to learn about businessopportunities in each side, thereby developing bilateral cooperation in thefuture.
