Vietnam attends Sao Paulo Forum in Cuba

Adelegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Nguyen Duc Loi,member of the CPV Central Committee and General Director of Vietnam NewsAgency, is participating in the 24th Sao Paulo Forum, which openedin Cuba’s capital Havana on July 15.

The forum, held in Havanafor the third time after the 1993 and 2001 editions, brought together 430delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and Africa, withthe Left’s unity in Latin America and the Caribbean as its theme.

Addressing the openingceremony, Executive Secretary of the forum Monica Valente highlighted theimportance of dialogue and consensus against new attacks on progressivegovernments.

The three-day forum includesvarious discussions and events with the participation of parliamentarians,female and youth delegates. It also establishes a position against hostile actstowards progressive governments in Latin America.

Created in 1990 as a resultof the Permanent Conference of Political Parties of Latin America and theCaribbean, the Sao Paulo Forum is a space for dialogue, which attracts about100 political parties, organisations and progressive movements in the region.

On the sidelines of theevent, Nguyen Duc Loi met with Jose Ramon Balaguer, Secretary of the CommunistParty of Cuba Central Committee and head of its Department of ExternalRelations.

The two officials discussedthe situations of the two nations and international issues of mutual concern,as well as activities to bolster cooperation between the two Parties andcountries.
