E-Government pushes administrative reform: PM

Thee-Government would help fight corruption, push administrative reform andimprove investment environment, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The sluggish building of thee-Government will lead to low productivity and backwardness, the PM said at aworking session on e-Government building with representatives of a number ofministries, agencies and the national committee on IT application in buildingthe e-Government in Hanoi on May 14. 

Highlighting thesignificance of a national database, he said the current problem lies with thenegligence of some ministries, agencies and localities, not the lack ofresources. The leader, therefore, asked Cabinet members and cities andprovinces nationwide to join hands in e-Government building. 

Administrative reform shouldgo in tandem with IT application at all levels, he said, describing IT as atool to materialise the reform target. 

In that spirit, PM Phucagreed with the Government Office’s proposal to establish a national committeeon e-Government by revamping the national committee on IT application in buildingthe e-Government which is chaired by the PM. 

At the working session,Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung reported experience inimplementing the e-Government of several countries like Estonia, France andMalaysia. 

Many delegates shared theviews that the most important, urgent task is to connect data between Stateagencies, firstly those in the tax, customs and social insurance sectors,explaining that 90,000 wards and communes across the country have set up theirown portals.

The Government Office alsoproposed the Government build a national service portal and implement aone-stop-shop portal.
