PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets Vietnamese expats in Canada

PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy andrepresentatives of the Vietnamese community from across Canada in Quebec onJune 10 morning (local time).

At the meeting, Vietnameseexpatriates expressed their delight at the fast socio-economic development ofVietnam as well as the success of PM Phuc’s participation in the G7 OutreachSummit and visit to Canada. They said the trip is a great contribution tobilateral relations and also an encouragement to the Vietnamese community inCanada.

They also informed PM Phucabout the life of Vietnamese in Canada, noting that with the support of theVietnamese Embassy and overseas representative agencies, their material andspiritual lives have been improved.

The expatriates voiced theirhope for more assistance from the Party and State in procedures for visa andreturning to do business and invest in the homeland.

PM Phuc reiterated the Partyand State’s consistent policy of considering overseas Vietnamese as an integralpart and a resource of Vietnam. He stressed all Vietnamese expatriates,including those in Canada, are encouraged to return to visit and invest in thehomeland to contribute to national development and protection.

He said 2018 marks the 45thfounding anniversary of Vietnam-Canada diplomatic ties, noting that Vietnam isthe top ASEAN trade partner of Canada. The PM recalled that during his meetingwith PM Justin Trudeau in Vietnam in 2017, he had asked the Canadian leader toprovide favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Canada, thus helpingto enhance bilateral friendship.

Phuc noted with satisfactionthat many Vietnamese people in Canada have been successful and actively engagedin key economic fields in Canada like science-technology and education.

The Government leader askedVietnamese around the globe, including in Canada, to continue overcomingdifficulties, keeping solidarity and mutual support, and contributing to thedevelopment of the homeland.
