Vietnam wants to bolster traditional ties with Iran: Party Chief

Vietnamwants to step up traditional cooperation and friendship with Iran and bothsides should work more to bolster economic, trade and investment ties to liveup with their strengths and potential, said General Secretary of the CommunistParty of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.

Holding a reception in Hanoion April 16 for Speaker of the Parliament of Iran Ali Ardeshir Larijani, who ison a four-day official visit to Vietnam, Party leader Trong affirmed Vietnam’sconsistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification andmultilateralisation of relations on the basis of international principals,equality and mutual benefits.

The Party chief took theoccasion to congratulate the southwest Asian country on its successes in politicalstabilization, socio-economic development and increasing position in theinternational arena.

He expressed his delight atthe fruitful relations between Vietnam and Iran, which has been incessantlyconsolidated.

He recommended that the twocountries strengthen coordination at regional and international forums whilepromoting the exchange of delegations at all levels as well as exchangeactivities in the fields of culture, sports, education-training and tourism.

The moves will bringpractical benefits to both sides, for interests of their people and forregional and global peace and development, he stressed.

Ali Ardeshir Larijani, forhis part, lauded Vietnam’s achievements and roles in the regional andinternational arenas, believing that under the leadership of the CommunistParty of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will reap more resounding successes inthe national construction, protection and development.

He asserted hisdetermination to further the friendship and cooperation between the legislativebodies, States and people of Vietnam and Iran.

Iran stands ready to joinhands with Vietnam in such areas as petrochemistry, mining, tourism, aviation,pharmaceuticals, security, defence and banking, among others, he noted.

He invited Party GeneralSecretary Trong to pay visit to Iran in a proper time and the later acceptedthe invitation with pleasure.
