32nd ASEAN Summit concludes in success

The32nd Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) inSingapore concluded with success on April 28.

Prime Minister of hostSingapore Lee Hsien Loong said ASEAN leaders had adopted documents in line withpriorities of ASEAN this year towards enhancing the bloc’s resilience andinnovation. 

At a press conferencefollowing the summit, PM Lee Hsien Loong announced three documents, which arethe ASEAN Leaders’ Vision for a Resilient and Innovative ASEAN, the ASEANLeaders’ Statement on Cybersecurity Cooperation and the ASEAN Smart CitiesNetwork.

The PM also announced thecompletion of the Model ASEAN Extradition Treaty, the renewed Singapore-ASEAN YouthFund and the establishment of the ASEAN Law Academy, an annual trainingprogramme in Singapore. 

He said ASEAN leaders hadproductive discussion during the summit on regional issues and externalcommitments of the bloc. 

The 32nd ASEANSummit and related meetings took place in Singapore, Chair of ASEAN in 2018,from April 25-28. 

The ASEAN groups 10countries which are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, thePhilippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
