In its online gazette, theSingaporean Government said the amended zone included Sentosa and an area ofthe sea stretching more than 1 km off its southwestern shore.

A smaller area in the centreof the island that includes the Capella hotel, which media have mentioned as apossible venue for the June 12 talks, will see greater presence of police.

The government has saidpolice would make stricter checks of people and personal belongings and itemssuch as public address systems and remotely piloted aircraft system would beprohibited.

This is the second timeSingapore has declared the “special event area” under the Public Order Actsince it was revised in April 2017. The first was during the 32nd ASEANSummit. The areas around the Istana and Shangri-La Hotel were designated as“special event areas” on April 27 and 28 this year.
