Trade revenue with G7 members totals 113 billion USD in 2017

Traderevenue between Vietnam and G7 countries – France, Germany, the UK, Italy,Japan, the US and Canada – reached 113 billion USD in 2017,a according to theGeneral Customs Department of Vietnam.

The figure showed anincrease of 9.5 percent year on year and accounted for over one fourth of thecountry’s total import-export revenue.

Of the figure, Vietnam’sexport revenues were 78.98 billion USD, a rise of 8.4 percent over the previousyear and accounting for 36.7 percent of the country’s total export value. 

Meanwhile, imports from G7countries reached 34.03 billion USD, an increase of 12.3 percent andcontributing 16 percent to total import revenue.

As a result, in 2017,Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus of 44.95 billion USD with G7 countries.

Prime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc of Vietnam was invited to attend the G7 Outreach Summit in Charlevoixregion, Canada’s Quebec state, from June 8-10. 

Vietnam and Bangladesh arethe only Asian countries to be invited to the event, proving that G7 memberstates and the host, Canada, highly appreciate Vietnam’s role and stature.
