Government’s meeting: GDP growth to aim above 6.7 percent

TheVietnamese Government is striving towards a higher economic growth than the 6.7percent rate set by the National Assembly, said Prime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc.

At the monthly Governmentmeeting in Hanoi on October 1, Prime Minister Phuc directed the agriculturalsector to channel its focus on processing, exports, and the building of valuechains. 

The Ministry of Culture,Sports, and Tourism was asked to branch out high-quality tourism and improvethe quality of service. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Planning and Investment mustwork to accelerate the disbursement of public investment.

As the economic restructuringaims to reduce dependence on foreign capital, the Government leader stressedthat policies must be mapped out to develop domestic enterprises.

Furthermore, he asked theMinistry of Planning and Investment to enhance connection between foreign directinvestment (FDI) firms and local firms. 

Underlining the significanceof completing mechanisms and improving the business climate, PM Phuc askedcompetent agencies to accomplish projects to submit to the National Assembly inthe upcoming meeting while cutting unnecessary business conditions forinvestors.

He required ministries andsectors to make meticulous preparations for the eighth session of the 12thCommunist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, as well as the upcoming theNational Assembly meeting.
