Ceremony sees off Vietnamese sport delegation to Asian Games 2018

Aceremony to see off a Vietnamese sport delegation to the Asian Games 2018(ASIAD 2018) took place in Hanoi on August 9.

Deputy head of the VietnamSports Administration Tran Duc Phan, head of the delegation, said thedelegation comprises 523 members, including 12 doctors, 24 experts, 81 coaches,six interpreters and 352 athletes. 

They will compete in trackand field, shooting, weightlifting, karate, taekwondo, pencak silat, wushu,bicycling, fencing, archery, men and women’s football events. 

Speaking at the event,Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien expressed his wishthat the athletes will do their best to bring glory to the nation. 

The ASIAD 2018 will be heldin the two major Indonesian cities - Jakarta and Palembang - from August 18 toSeptember 2.

At the previous ASIAD in2014, Vietnam won one gold, 10 silver and 25 bronze medals, ranking 21stin the overall medal tally.

Vietnam targets at leastthree gold medals at this year’s event.
