Vietnam promotes tourism in Chinese cities

TheVietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) is organising the VietnamTourism Road Show 2018 in the four Chinese cities of Jinan, Hangzhou, Wuhan andBeijing from April 12-22.

The event is part of anational tourism promotion programme held by the VNAT this year.

In the Chinese cities, theagency introduces Vietnam’s tourism potential, products and developmentpolicies, with the focus on sea tourism.

It also plans to organisemeetings between Vietnamese and Chinese travel agencies to intensifycooperation opportunities and increase the number of Chinese visitors toVietnam and vice versa.

In addition, the VNAT willcoordinate with airlines to introduce direct air routes and push for theopening of more routes linking the two countries’ localities.

With a population of 1.3billion, China has become a potential tourism market for many countries. TheWorld Tourism Organisation forecasts that around 220 million Chinese peoplewill go abroad for holidays in 2025.

More than 4 million Chinesepeople visited Vietnam last year, representing a year-on-year surge of 48.6percent.

In the first quarter of thisyear, Vietnam served over 1.35 million Chinese tourists, a year-on-year rise of42.9 percent.

Vietnam aims to servebetween 15 – 17 million foreigners and 78 million domestic travellers thisyear, with total revenue expected to hit 620 trillion VND (27.28 billion USD),up 21.35 percent year on year.
