FIFA pledges support for Vietnam’s football development

Presidentof the world football governing body FIFA Gianni Infantino pledged to supportVietnam’s football development programmes in the coming time during a workingsession with representatives from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) inHanoi on February 8.

Gianni Infantino highlyvalued football achievements  made by Vietnam in recent time,especially  Vietnam's U20 football team’s presence at the U20 WorldCup 2017; Vietnam's futsal team playing in the semi-finals ofthe 2018 AFC Futsal Championship; and the U23 team’s success as therunner-up at the AFC U23 Championship.

He attributed the results toefforts made by the Vietnamese Government and relevant agencies in promotingthe football’s development in general and training young footballtalents. 

FIFA will continuesupporting the FIFA Goal Project in Vietnam by providing financial resources,building of laboratory and high-quality training room, and referee training,thus helping Vietnam complete young football training programmes in particularand promote its football development in general, FIFA President Infantinosaid. 

He reported that FIFA hasselected Vietnam as one of the participants in a pilot project to developwomen’s football in 18 months. FIFA will send its experts to Vietnam to helpthe VFF build a long-term programme for the project, he added. 

He also thanked theVietnamese Government and people for their support to the country’s footballdevelopment, expressing his belief that Vietnam’s football will reap moresuccesses in the near future.
