Seminar discusses Industry 4.0 impacts on culture, arts

TheMinistry of Culture, Sports and Tourism sought to tap Industry 4.0 achievementsin culture and arts from analyzing the revolution impacts on the sector at ascientific seminar in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on June 21.

Speaking at the event,Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien said the ministrywants to listen to scientists and researchers’ opinions in the field, therebyeffectively renewing the State management to boost the effective application ofIndustry 4.0 achievements in culture and arts. 

Participants proposedroadmap to technological application between now and 2021 to build key productsand services, as well as measures regarding capital, mechanisms, policies andhuman resources. 

Nguyen Phuong Hoa from theministry’s Department of International Cooperation said with over 20UNESCO-recognised heritages and thousands of relic sites and folk culturalfestivals, Vietnam needs to creatively and sustainably tap values of culturalheritages to gain competitive edges. 

She urged the State topromptly issue a digital cultural strategy or turn it into a key mission in theVietnam cultural development strategy in the new period. 

It is also necessary tocomprehensively reform education by promoting innovation, she said, adding thatthe State needs to refine legal regulations and strengthen the efficiency ofintellectual property protection in a real-life and digital environment. 

Hoa suggested building aprivate-public partnership mechanism to pool brainpower and financial prowessof the private sector in realising the digital cultural strategy. 

The same day, the ministryheld a training conference on the government’s Decree No.22/2018.ND-CP datedFebruary 23, 2018 regulating the enforcement of the Law on IntellectualProperty regarding the rights of authors and related rights.
