Vietnamese culture highlighted in Japan

ManyJapanese have been fascinated by Vietnamese foods and Ao Dai (Vietnamesetraditional long dress) shows during the recent International Cultural Festivalheld in Tsukuba city, Ibaraki prefecture.

This year is the second timethe Vietnamese Association in the city has participated in the festival.

Cultural cooperation hasbeen key in Vietnam-Japan relations. According to head of the liaison committeeof the Vietnamese Association in Ibaraki Cao Sy Luan, from the first year ofjoining the festival in 2017, the association received helpful support from theorganisation board.

He said that this year, theVietnamese booth attracted many visitors.

The festival had more than200 booths showing traditional foods and folk games of Japan as well as cultureof various countries such as China, the US, France, India and the Philippines.

Currently, 230,000Vietnamese people are living and working in Japan, while 16,000 Japanese areliving in Vietnam. Japan is the third largest source of tourists to Vietnam.
