Recently, the Central Key Economic RegionCouncil, the Central Coast RegionCoordination Committee and Thua Thien-Hue Provincial People'sCommittee have coordinated organizing the Highlands - Central TourismDevelopment Conference to discuss and set out basic solutions to helplocalities in the region develop tourism sustainably.

From strategic economists to tourism managers andenterprises, all have seen the Central and Central Highlands provinces have great advantagesin comparisonwith other regions throughout the country in many areas to developtourism into spearhead economic sector.

As the gateway to the sea of ​​the East-West economiccorridor, also a stretch of territory along the trans-Vietnam, trans-Asia tourismroutes, the Central-Highlandsregion has had aparticularly important position in the Vietnam tourism map. The whole area has currentlyhad 12 airportsin operation, including 5 international airports. Seaport system has beenupgraded with 10 seaports of type 1; in which, Chan May deep-water port (ThuaThien - Hue province) can contain the world's largest ship.

In the region's general correlation, Phu Yenprovince is considered apotential locality for tourism development. It haspossessed the convenienttraffic with national highway 1 and the north-south railway passing through,with national highway 25 connecting with the Central Highlands and nationalhighway 29 connectingVung Ro international seaport with Dak Rue border gate (Dak Lakprovince), modern Tuy Hoa airport, Vung Ro seaport being able to receive ships with a tonnage of over 5,000 tons...

Phu Yen province has also enjoyed a coastline of 189 kmwith many windingplaces, adjacent mountains and sea, creating many lagoons and bays bearing wild and naturalbeauty, sources of hot mineral water. The province has currently had22 historical, cultural,architectural, national scenic spots and 52 provincial-ranked relics...

With rich and diverse natural and human resources, in recent years, the province has begunto pay attention to infrastructure investment, tourism promotion and propaganda. In the early 2018, the province successfullyorganized the investment promotion conference with the participation of Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc.

At this conference, the province presented many investment policy decisions,investment registration certificates, notice of access, survey, investmentresearch, investment memorandum in many large-scale projects withtotal cost of about USD 2.1 billion and VND 2,290 billion. In the period of 2016-2018,Phu Yen province also attracted and decided the policy of investing in 24investment projects into the tourism services with a total registered investmentcapital of about VND 7,992 billion.

The number of turns of tourists to Phu Yenprovince from2016 to 2018 increased steadily from 15% to 30% per year. In 2016, the total number ofvisitors was over 1.17 million turns; in 2017, the total number of visitors was more than1.4 million turns; in 2018 was more than 1.6 million...

Phu Yen tourism has been developing with encouraging results.However, with potential and expectation, these results are still modest.Commenting on the potential of Phu Yen tourism, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuconce said: "The land of yellow flowers on green grass is as pristine as asleeping princess, waiting for the prince to wake up!"

At the conference, the PPC representative proposed the Ministryof Culture, Sports and Tourism to soon issue regulations on management andplanning of the national tourist area so that it can be applied to Xuan Dai Bay tourism area; support training tourism humanresource; assistprofessional, investmentfunding for building community tourism model in Le Diem village (Song Hinhdistrict), Xi Thoai village (Dong Xuan district), preserve and promote the precious coral reefsat national scenicarea of Yen islet...

Phu Yen proposed the Ministry of Transportation to payattention to and invest in upgrading Tuy Hoa airport, increasing domestic andinternational routes; invest in upgrading the system of national highways 25and 29 to the Central Highlands; increase the stop time of the North - South railway at Tuy Hoastation...
